COSON TABLE TENNIS BLOWOUT RELOADED

The games in the ongoing COSON ALL STARS TABLE TENNIS BLOWOUT, one of the seven events of the much publicized COSON week will be resuming at the Rowe Park Sports center on April 7. The games which have been reloaded and taking up a notch will see some of the qualifiers return to compete in the knock off matches.

The repackaged games will also be used as a launch pad to bring back the glory days of the one sport that has made Lagos state one the most popular sports destination cities in Africa.
According to COSON CEO and General Manager, Mr. Chinedu Chukwuji, the competition in the last two weeks has not only provided fun for many guests that thronged the Multi-purpose Hall of Teslim Balogun stadium in Surulere and Rowe Park Sports Center, Yaba, but also created time for exercise and work out sessions for the stars that participated.
In the words of Mr. Chukwuji “The last two weeks have not only shown us that there is definitely more to most of our superstars than we know; but it has opened our eyes to the very fact that although some of these celebrities came out to have fun, some others, if well harnessed, can actually represent the country in bigger table tennis competitions. The games have also created an avenue for interaction between the stars and their numerous fans in a more relaxed atmosphere.  But we have decided that the competition takes a break during the Easter weekend to allow the artistes quality time with their families and also attend to some other engagements they have during the Easter celebrations”

Speaking on the purpose of the games, the COSON boss said it was an avenue to promote the essence of the COSON week which in the end is most beneficial to the artistes themselves.
“The whole essence of the much talked about COSON WEEK is the launch of the COSON MUSIC FOUNDATION. The Foundation amongst other things is aimed at improving the standard of Nigerian music by helping indigent musicians without the means to produce their works. It will also ensure that no Nigerian musician suffers unduly from any ailment that can easily be attended to financially. The foundation will also try to provide funds for different research programs aimed at improving the standard and quality of Nigerian music; one that could compete with any other developed nation” he said

The COSON Week, he added, will be nothing short of exciting, meaningful and will exceed the expectations of Nigerians. “Although it is looking like the COSON week is all about entertainment, it is way beyond that. It will be a week that Nigerians will experience something different from the usual events”

Starting with the COSON AT THE CHURCH, Nigerians, he noted “will be given an opportunity to pray for this great nation while also enjoying the best of gospel music from the masters of the game like Sammy Okposo, Panam Percy Paul, Kefee, Buchi, Bouqui, The Midnight Crew amongst others. The COSON Lecture will afford IP enthusiasts and Nigerians in general an opportunity to broaden their perspective on copyright matters while also understanding the intricacies inherent in it. COSON IN THE STREET is a way that artistes in Nigeria will be giving back to the society by cleaning the street, controlling traffic and having different free jamming sessions at different locations”

Continuing, Chukwuji said “Wednesday May 22 will see the crème de la crème storm the Muson Centre for the COSON GREEN BALL which will see the launch of the COSON Music Foundation; while our Muslim brothers will converge at the mosque on Friday for the COSON at the Mosque to continue in the intercession for Nigeria. The COSON SONG AWARDS which is the last event of the week will witness some hardworking and talented Nigerian musicians rewarded for their efforts at making great music”

The COSON Table Tennis Blow Out has seen such great stars like AY, Ruggedman, Olamide, Dr. Adewale Ayuba, AGN president, Ibinabo Fiberisima, Quen Ure, Kween Onokala, Timi Dakolo, Blackface, Solid Star, Ovation Editor, Mike Effiong, Yes Publisher, Azuh Arinze, Entertainment Express Editor, Azuh Amatus, Now Muzik boss, Efe Omorogbe, Calli Vision CEO, Cally Ikpe,  foremost  DJ cum movie producer, Lanre Falana, African Rockstar, Konga and COSON Chairman Chief Tony Okoroji among many other talented stars show their racquet skills in a game that has been nothing but fun all the way.

The next event which will see qualifiers battle it out in the round of 16 matches will produce 8 winners that will eventually produce the semi finalists. The final match of the competition will take place after a grand ceremony at the Multi-purpose Hall of Teslim Balogun Stadium on Wednesday, May 23 during the COSON Week. The winner will go home with a whopping One Million naira, a state of the art glittering trophy and other mouth watery prizes.
