It
is the start of another year and as expected New Year resolutions and goal
setting are the order of the day. A glance through your social media timelines
and you can tell that lots of people hope to get the best out of the year.
Whether
your goal for the New Year is to learn how to prepare a new
meal or to code your own personal assistant like Mark Zuckerberg, these tips
from these 7 influencers can help you hit your mark in 2016.
1.
Your goal MUST
be aligned with your self-image
If you can't imagine yourself doing what it takes to achieve your goal, you'll probably never achieve it. For example, if cold calling factors into your desired goal and you feel embarrassed doing it, you may want to find a new goal or at least a different way to get there. Self-image and the way you see yourself is powerful! ~ Michael Goldberg (Speaker, Author)

2. Start Small
Make resolutions that you think you can keep. If, for example, your aim is to exercise more frequently, schedule three or four days a week at the gym instead of seven. If you would like to eat healthier, try replacing dessert with something else you enjoy, like fruit or yogurt, instead of seeing your diet as a form of punishment. ~ Stephanie Okereke (Nollywood Actress)

3. Assign a timeline to your goal
Once you have determined precisely
what it is you want, you must decide on a timeframe for having it. The deadline
you've created fosters a sense of urgency or purpose, which in turn will serve
as an important motivator, and prevent inertia or procrastination. ~ Dr.
Phil (TV host and New York Times best-selling author)
4. Manage Your Time
Make a list of everything that
you have to do in the coming day and identify your most important task. Which
one item will have the greatest value in your work? The greatest value in
achieving your main goal? Work on this task first. Work on it until it is 100%
complete. ~ Brian Tracy (Success Expert)
5. Focus
on the Practice, Not the Performance
Productive
and successful people practice the things that are important to them on a
consistent basis. The best weightlifters are in the gym at the same time every
week. The best writers are sitting down at the keyboard every day. And this
same principle applies to the best leaders, parents, managers, musicians, and
doctors.
The strange thing is that for top performers, it’s not
about the performance; it’s about the continual practice. ~ James Clear (Author, Entrepreneur)
6.
Celebrate Success
Celebrate your successes then make
new lists of new goals. The cycle should continue as you make more and more
progress. I have boxes and boxes of old notes, filled with old lists, and I’m
busy making more. ~ Richard Branson
(Founder of Virgin Group)
7.
Just Do It
Be bold, take
risks, and be courageous. What's the worst that could happen that another man
has not faced before? #JustDoIt.
~ Audu Maikori (Founder, Chocolate
City)
